4x4 Pay & Play Sites
There are 2 things you need to know about Pay & Play sites:
- They’re a LOT of fun
- Be prepared for higher maintenance if you frequent them on a regular basis
Let’s start with the obvious, they’re private playgrounds for you to spend a few hours / a day dicking about driving your own 4×4. What’s not to love?!
Well, cleaning your 4×4 afterwards for one. All that mud, silt, sand, water getting into every orifice cannot be good for the vehicle. So if you prefer “sensible” green-laning and overlanding, then these sites probably aren’t for you. If you like getting muddy, then you’ll love them!
Below is a map of most of the 4×4 Pay & play sites in the UK. Simply click on the marker you’re interested in and you’ll see the name of the site and a link to their website.
You’ll need to check the website to see when they’re open, cost and what the requirements are for using the site. Things to check:
- Does my vehicle have to be road legal? (Tax, MOT, insurance)
- What documents do I need to bring along? (Driving licence, proof of the above etc.)
- Can I trailer my vehicle in? (If so, do I need permission)
Other things to bear in mind:
- Are my recovery points installed?
- Do I have the equipment to enable recovery? (Tow rope, shackles etc.)
- Do I have a cloth and water to wipe down my lights and number plate so I don’t get pulled on the way home?
If your site is not listed on the page OR if you have found an error with the directory, email peter@gogreenlaning.com and we’ll get your site added/corrected.
